Introduction to Pranayama with Michael
We all know oxygen plays a vital role in the healthy function of our bodies, yet studies show the average person uses just 10% of his or her respiratory capacity. In this special workshop, we’ll look at the physiology of respiration, including how breathing directly influences our energy, our health, and our minds. We’ll explore the Yogic breathing practices or pranayama, the science behind them, and simple techniques you can use for better vitality, cognitive function, and stress management.

About the Teacher
Michael Lloyd-Billington has been a student and teacher of Eastern Philosophy for over 25 years. He received his degree in Philosophy & Comparative Religion from Hampshire College, where he had the opportunity to study with such renowned scholars as Robert Thurman, Dennis Hudson, and Taitetsu Unno. A certified Integral Yoga Instructor (Levels I, II, and III), Michael has worked with thousands of students from around the world and has lead numerous workshops on Yoga philosophy, meditation, pranayama, and other aspects of the Yogic path. From 1997-2000, he served as Head of Yoga Teachers’ Training at Satchidananda Ashram, an internationally-renowned certification program. Also an avid student of nutrition and fitness, Michael offers private yoga sessions and is a personal trainer.
All levels welcome, including those entirely new to yoga.
