Flowing Backbends
with Stephanie Sever
Flowing Backbends will be a Vinyasa-style class designed to open up the front side of the body, while strengthening the back muscles. Back bending is an essential piece to any yoga practice and helps to counter the effects of our daily activities, most of which flex the front of the body. This longer 2-hour class will dive into the basics of back bending, providing the foundation necessary for us to play and experiment with several postures, possibly finding more depth. All postures will be presented with variations to allow for differing intermediate levels of practice.

Stephanie began practicing yoga therapeutically 5 years ago after a severe neck injury. Not only did yoga improve her physical state, but opened up her heart and mind in ways she did not know were possible. Helping others to experience this whole package has been her goal since she began teaching in 2007. Stephanie received her Vinyasa Yoga certification from Bhava Yoga in Brattleboro, VT, and has also studied Yin and Iyengar styles all over the country. Her classes have a strong focus on individualized breath synchronization, proper alignment and the mind-body connection. Stephanie is currently studying therapeutic massage and has a hands-on style of teaching, providing assists and light massage techniques for students throughout class.
